Copper

When making diamond tools copper powder is usually not used pure but as just one element in a mixture with other powders. In most cases copper is combined with tin powder to safeguard that the ready bond does not get too soft and does not smear.
In general such copper-tin additions are selected if a powder mixture shall become less wear resistant  f. ex. to increase free cutting performance of a tool or to reduce the needed sintering temperature. The working temperature for pure copper powder ranges between 550°C and 600°C.
Since the use of copper as pure powder or in very high concentration, however, is very rare in diamond toll manufacturing, we offer the service to define the sintering temperature as well as hardness and density to be expected for different compositions case by case. Please ask for it whenever needed.
Due to our close cooperation with GGP Metal Powder AG, one of the leading manufacturers of copper powders, we do have the possibility to offer you a big variety of electrolytic copper powders with high purity in different grit sizes and apparent densities – as usual, direct from Dr. Fritsch stock, within short time.
