Marble

Marble is a relatively soft, very calcareous stone. It requires a soft bond which wears well, in order to set free new, unused diamond in time. Diamond quality should not be too high, so that chippings of the diamond create new cutting edges which maintain the good cutting properties of the tool.

In addition to the usual diamond tools such as circular saws, wire saws and calibrating tools, the (multi) gang saw is a typical tool used for working marble.

Since marble usually is not very abrasive, single-layer segments are often used. Great importance is attached on good cutting edges (without chipping) at the stone, requiring bonds with good free-cutting properties. Marble usually is cut over the full width.
